RAIN-UGANDA: History.

In early 2006, Samson Wamani, a young Ugandan doctor and an American volunteer, Hedy Cohen were brainstorming about the serious needs of the local people, especially concerning HIV. They were particularly concerned with lack of education and screening about HIV/AIDS in local villages surrounding Mbale, Uganda. It was agreed that there was an immediate need for these services.

Thus RAIN-UGANDA was born. Ten years and more than 15,000 HIV tests later, RAIN is still working on site in local villages providing HIV Education and Screening.

Encouraging Ugandan men, women, and children to know their status is the challenge that RAIN-UGANDA faces.
